Blu, Blue Ridge's Generative AI, Takes Planners From Question to Approved Order

Press Release

September 8, 2026

Blu reasons across demand and replenishment in a single conversation, stress-tests the decision before it is made, and points planners to the exact next action, with every answer citing its source.

ATLANTA, September 8, 2026 – Blue Ridge Global, a leading provider of Supply Chain Intelligence for distributors, manufacturers, and retailers, today announced expanded capabilities for Blu, the Generative AI built natively into the Blue Ridge platform, extending it from answering questions to guiding planners through the full arc of a planning decision.

Supply chain intelligence is only as valuable as a planner's ability to act on it. Most planning systems return a number and leave the reasoning buried across separate screens, forcing planners to reconstruct the logic by hand before they can defend a decision or act on it. Blu closes that gap by collapsing four screens of planning work into a single prompt.

“This gives me confidence in what I'm purchasing because I can understand why I'm purchasing those items,” said a verified Blue Ridge customer in a G2 review.

A planner can ask Blu why a forecast moved, what is driving an order recommendation, or how safety stock was calculated, and receive a plain-language answer with the reasoning shown: forecast drivers, model selection, accuracy metrics, exceptions, order trigger point, lead time exposure, supplier quotas, and constrained allocation, reconciled in one conversation rather than by the planner.

Blu also tests the decision before it is made. Planners can run a demand sensitivity at plus or minus 5, 10, or 50 percent and see the downstream impact on safety stock, order quantities, and working capital before an order is placed. Blu then supplies the exact click path to adjust, lock, and approve on the order summary screen. Every answer cites its source, so the audit trail is built into the conversation rather than reconstructed afterward.

The same capability shortens the ramp for new planners, who can ask how a process works without leaving the screen, and exports structured output directly into Excel for the work that still happens in a spreadsheet.

“Supply chain teams do not adopt AI they cannot interrogate,” said Ken Carpenter, Chief Product Officer at Blue Ridge Global. “Explaining a decision and automating it require two different kinds of trust, and we have spent our effort earning the first. That is what makes the second one possible.”

Where much of the market is either adding generative AI to legacy planning systems or promising autonomous agents with little visible reasoning, Blue Ridge is building in a deliberate order. Because Blu already shows its work and cites its sources, it becomes the layer through which planners will direct and govern purpose-built agents, approving what those agents recommend with the same visible logic Blu provides today. The agents act. Blu is how planners understand what was found, why it matters, and what to do about it.

That sequencing reflects how Blue Ridge approaches Supply Chain Intelligence generally: intelligence planners can understand is intelligence they trust, and intelligence they trust is intelligence they use.
